Welcome to the beta site for a brand new idea called hymnstream…

Hymnstream is a gathering place for anyone seeking inspiration and healing. The singers and musicians contributing to hymnstream come from a range of musical backgrounds, from classical to folk, opera to rock. What brings them all here is a desire to share the uplifting messages of prayer-inspired music with humanity. It is simplicity and sincerity we’re aiming for rather than elaborate production. When you listen to something on hymnstream, we hope it sounds like a heartfelt prayer rather than a performance – as if a close friend is singing to you. And because music is a universal language, we hope hymnstream becomes a bridge-builder across faith traditions.

Most of the hymns on the site come from the Christian Science Hymnal, a sourcebook for spiritual healing that has inspired people worldwide for generations. We’ll be recording more hymns from this hymnal along with sacred music from other sources that gives voice to the universality of truth. Mary Baker Eddy wrote this in her pathfinding text on healing, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: “The truth is the centre of all religion” and “Whatever inspires with wisdom, Truth, or Love — be it song, sermon, or Science — blesses the human family with crumbs of comfort from Christ's table, feeding the hungry and giving living waters to the thirsty.” Our vision is to let these “living waters” flow out to the world freely.

All this, of course, can’t happen without a community of listeners and supporters. We welcome your ideas! Let us know what you like on the site and what you want to hear more of. When you sign up for our email list, we’ll let you know when new music is added to hymnstream and share news about how you can support our work going forward.
